Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is employed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one email address, but to look as being sent from another, ordinarily with the idea to scam the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, a unique record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers around the world get it. The record includes all the e-mail servers that are permitted to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When an email is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and if its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target destination. When, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the given domain, the e-mail message won't be sent and it will be discarded. If you use this service, it will prevent third parties from sending spam emails that seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

If you host your domains in a cloud website hosting account on our end and we handle the e-mail addresses for them, you'll be able to enable SPF protection for them with a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in its own section where you'll be able to view which domains are already protected. For the ones which aren't, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection solution and configure a number of things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domains include our MX records. The last choice is the most secure one, and you can use it when we take care of the e-mail addresses for your domains and you are not using another email provider. The newly created records will be activated within 24 hours and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an e-mail by using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection attribute is available with all of the Linux semi-dedicated servers, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you're able to activate this particular service effortlessly for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a quite easy to use interface, therefore you don't have to be proficient in the use of computers to protected your email addresses. You'll only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be allowed to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be active for the domain that you've selected. As a further option, we also allow you to control the outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes even better by allowing e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain involved has our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name have to be managed here and not by a different supplier. By doing so you will have even better control and there will not be any chance for any person to fake your e-mail addresses for malicious activities.
