Each desktop or notebook or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that communicates with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, and any apps that are installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each and every app runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so you can set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server packages come with three Linux distributions that you could choose from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being free, the OSs are really stable and risk-free and the primary reason to offer the 3 of them is to ensure that you can run every application that you would like, because different pieces of software may have different requirements regarding the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is supported by a huge community of web developers who have made thousands of software packages which you can set up and use on your VPS. In accordance with the Operating System that you select, you will also be able to select between 3 different Control Panels to manage your hosting content. Also, should you decide that you need a different OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the Operating System for max stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server plans - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are totally free so they will not increase the cost of your new web server, but also because they are really stable and secure. Each of them is backed up by a vast community of developers, so you'll be given the option to choose from a large number software packages that you could install on your server if the application that you want to use has specific requirements. The Operating System will also determine what hosting Control Panel you can use as the Control Panels that we offer are compatible with specific OSs only and since we would like to provide you with as much versatility as possible, we offer multiple OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you get a server with a given OS, we will change it upon request in the event that it turns out that you need another one. We could also keep your OS updated weekly as a part of our additional Managed Services upgrade.
